Saudi Airlines Catering Co. (SACC) said, in response to the negative feedback on social media about the pre-packaged meals provided to pilgrims during Hajj this year, is due to failure by some food providers to comply with the correct storage and preparation methods.

The company indicated that its contractual and legal responsibilities are limited to manufacturing pre-packaged frozen meals according to required specifications set by companies organizing Hajj, Okaz Newspaper reported.

SACC assigned field monitors to check quality and public health to visit the locations of food providers to ensure safety of their procedures and instruct them to rectify any incorrect ones.

Some of the negative feedback was about the level of services by food providers in terms of storing and heating meals, as they violated the guidelines, in addition to general ones about meals choices regardless of quality.

The company stressed that its role is to supply pilgrims with pre-packaged frozen meals as per the stipulations of the Ministry of Hajj and other competent authorities.
