Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Competition’s (GAC) board of directors approved, in its meeting held on June 30, conducting investigations over potential claims that 13 institutions are violating the Competition Law in a number of business sectors, including contracting, retailing and e-platforms.
The board also touched upon a number of agenda items, and ratified a proposal to not apply for the regulatory approval of the economic concentration, which has a development impact, to encourage entrepreneurship, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
During the meeting, the board approved to form a technical committee to discuss a request by an institution to be exempted from Article No. 7 of the Competition Law, as regards informing the authority of the economic concentration requests.
