The combined deposits at Saudi banks exceeded SAR 2 trillion for the first time in history, reaching SAR 2.001 trillion by the end of May 2021.
The total deposits crossed SAR 1 trillion for the first time in January 2011, which surpassed SAR 1.5 trillion in April 2014.

Demand deposits represented the largest share of deposits at SAR 1.324 trillion, or 66% of total deposits, of which SAR 1.169 trillion is corporate and retail deposits and SAR 155.1 billion is from government agencies.
Time and saving deposits hit SAR 439.1 billion by the end of May, while other quasi-monetary deposits reached SAR 237.8 billion.
