Saudi banks’ retail, corporate mortgage loans grow 44% to SAR 474.5 bln in Q1 2021

Mortgage loans provided to retail and corporate clients by commercial banks in Saudi Arabia rose 44% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 474.5 billion in Q1 2021, according to data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

 

Loans to retail clients, accounting for 75% of total mortgage loans, jumped 59% to SAR 358 billion in the three-month period from SAR 225.1 billion in Q1 2020.

 

Corporate loans grew by 12% YoY to SAR 116.5 billion in Q1 2021.

On the other hand, consumer loans grew by 13% YoY during the three-month period to reach SAR 379.5 billion.

 

They include cars and equipment loans, as well as travel, education, and home improvement loans, among others.
