Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) signed, on June 1, 2021, an agreement with the National Research and Development Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) to manage and develop the center’s business.

The agreement will be valid for five years, starting July 25. It was signed by Yousef Al-Benyan, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at SABIC and Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture.

The new deal will boost SABIC’s contribution to developing the sustainable agricultural development programs, to realize the objectives of the Kingdom’s national agricultural strategy, in line with Vision 2030, Al-Benyan said.

In 2013, Estidamah was set up with support of SABIC, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) in Riyadh Techno Valley.

Estidamah was launched to perform applied research and adopt and test innovative technologies that will contribute to sustainable agriculture; with a primary focus on specific key strategies, including increasing crop production per unit area, boosting water-use efficiency, in addition to application and localization of modern protected cultivation technologies.
