Sahara International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) announced today, May 10, 2021, the temporary shutdown of its affiliate, Sahara and Maaden Petrochemicals Company (SAMAPCO), for 27 days starting from May 23, 2021.

The company will use the shutdown period to enhance the reliability and operations, according to a bourse filing.

SAMAPCO’s feedstock of ethylene is supplied by the Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Co. (SEPC) cracker.

The financial impact of this scheduled shutdown will be reflected in Q2 2021 financials. The company will take necessary actions to eliminate any potential negative impact on its customers.

Last month, National Industrialization Co. (TASNEE) said it would temporarily shut down Sethylene and polyethylene plants for 27 days, starting from May 23, 2021.
