More than 850 companies requested to join ‘Made in Saudi’ program, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Faisal AlBedah, Secretary General of Saudi Exports Development Authority (SEDA).

The initiative aims at boosting local consumption and services in addition to increasing non-oil exports to the top export destinations. It further helps enhancing investment climate in the Kingdom, AlBedah said on the sidelines of a webinar organized by Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry today, April 7, 2021.

Additionally, the program will bolster the national identity, increase the private sector contribution to the Kingdom’s economy, and empower the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and chairman of SEDA, Bandar Alkhorayef, launched ‘Made in Saudi’ program on March 28, 2021, under the sponsorship of the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Argaam reported.

Last November, SEDA said that the program will contribute to stimulating investments within the industrial sector in the Kingdom, which will strengthen the sector's position on the world map; enable Saudi products to compete locally, regionally and globally; and enhance its role in increasing the Kingdom's non-oil exports from 16% to 50% of non-oil GDP by 2030, according to data compiled by Argaam.
