Saudi Council of Engineers moving ahead with 20% localization of technical jobs

Farhan Al-Shammari, secretary-general of the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE), said that the council, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), is working towards localization of technical jobs.

 

The decision will follow the studies with the relevant parties, Al-Shammari said in a statement to CNBC Arabia.

 

He pointed out that 7,000 engineering jobs were localized till date, indicating that the localization rate in technical jobs will be higher than engineering jobs, which currently stands at 20%.

 

In August 2020, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, issued a decision to localize 20% of engineering jobs, according to data compiled by Argaam.
