SAR wins 5-year maintenance, operation deal for Haramain Railway

The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC) signed today, March 22, 2021, an agreement with Saudi Railway Co. (SAR) for the servicing, maintenance and operation of Haramain High-Speed Railway.

Makkah Region Development Authority and the Ministry of Finance were parties to the agreement, RCMC said on its official Twitter account.

Under the agreement, SAR will carry out servicing, maintenance, and operation works over a period of five years for the Haramain High-Speed Railway.

In addition, SAR will organize and manage crowds and security guards, as well as assets affiliated to the railway, including stations, facilities, equipment and operating systems.

The award follows the Cabinet's decision to entrust SAR with the servicing, maintenance and operation of Haramain High-Speed Railway, and comes as part of RCMC’s program for mobility and transport infrastructure.

It also represents the first benefits of activating the Unified Transport Center which supervises the overall transport activities in Makkah and the Holy Sites.
