HRSD ministry to regulate CIT sector, introduces 7 activities to Nitaqat

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) Ahmed Al-Rajhi issued today, Feb. 25, 2021, a decision on regulating the communications and information technology (CIT) sector in Saudi Arabia, as of Shaaban 01, 1442 AH.

 

The decision removes the CIT from the main activities in the Nitaqat program and introduces seven main activities in its place, namely operation and maintenance of information technology, operation and maintenance of communications, infrastructure of information technology, infrastructure of communications, solutions for information technology, solutions for communications, and post activities.

 

The ministry also highlighted that the decision aims to regulate the operation of institutions in such a vital sector, as well as achieve the objectives of the Saudization through the creation of more job opportunities that fit Saudis and raise their participation in the labor market and gross domestic product.

 

The decision comes as part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Human Resources Development Fund, and the Saudi Council of Chambers, represented in the National Commission for Communications and Information Technology, according to the ministry's statement.
