The Saudi Cabinet approved, on Feb. 23, to include the national program to support project management, operation and maintenance in public entities within the Center of Spending Efficiency (CSE) and transforming it into the "Expenditure and Project Efficiency Authority (EXPRO)".
The authority stated that its main tasks will include the development of national policies and strategies on the efficiency of planning and spending, as well as management of projects, assets, and facilities.
The tasks will also include studying the details of spending as well as operational and capital practices in the public entities, in addition to submitting relevant recommendations, identifying the opportunities of boosting the efficiency of spending, and taking the relevant measures.
In addition, the authority will set the indicators, measures, tools, approaches, methodologies, and mechanisms related to the efficiency of spending and projects, which will contribute to achieving the authority's goals.
The authority will also coordinate with government entities to form work teams with the purpose of boosting the efficiency of spending and promoting the quality of projects, as well as proposing the regulations related the authority's competencies and the relevant amendments.
