A number of hospitality industry investors in Makkah called on the competent authorities to reconsider the decision not to operate three-star hotels, according to a statement by Makkah Chamber of Commerce.
The investors’ request came amid the negative implications of the pandemic outbreak, as they could not generate any profit and may exit the market due to their inability to pay bills.
“The Hotel Committee in Makkah Chamber seeks to boost the hotel industry, save investors and mitigate the negative economic impact,” said the committee chairman Rayan Felali.
The committee will recommend the best practices for the post-pandemic period and try to provide financial aid for the industry investors through addressing the competent authorities to provide loans to defaulting companies and request emergency aid for other industry players, he added.
