41st GCC Summit
The 41st GCC Summit confirmed fulfilling the requirements of the GCC Customs Union and Common Market as well as economic citizenship, through allowing the citizens of the GCC countries to freely work, move and invest, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing AlUla Declaration.
The final communique highlighted the importance of offering equal educational and healthcare opportunities to the GCC citizens, as well as building the gulf railway, developing the food and water security system, encouraging common projects and localizing GCC investments.
Joint efforts are needed to overcome the coronavirus and its negative impacts, such as activating the role of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control that was established at this summit, in light of the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to coordinate the joint GCC efforts towards combating COVID-19 and other epidemics.
The declaration also stressed the importance of enhancing the tools of governance, transparency, accountability, integrity and combating of corruption through joint efforts.
In addition, the military integration should be promoted among the GCC countries, under the supervision of the Joint Defense Council, the Supreme Military Committee and the unified military command to meet challenges.
The GCC leaders also agreed to enhance the regional and international role of the Gulf Cooperation Council represented in unifying political positions and developing strategic partnerships, the final communique stated.
