Saudi Arabia estimates 2021 budget revenues at SAR 849 bln, expenditures at SAR 990 bln

Saudi Arabia's revenues for the 2021 state budget are estimated at SAR 849 billion, with forecast expenditures of SAR 990 billion with a deficit of SAR 141 billion, or 4.9% of the Kingdom’s gross domestic product. 

 

Total revenues are projected at SAR 770 billion this year, while expenditures are expected to stand at SAR 1.068 trillion, with an expected deficit of SAR 298 billion.

The Kingdom’s GDP shrank by 16.4% to SAR 2.486 trillion in 2020, while the inflation rate accelerated to 3.7% compared to a year earlier.

The Kingdom’s public debt rose to SAR 854 billion by the end of 2020, or 34.3% of the Kingdom’s GDP, as compared to SAR 678 billion a year earlier.  

 

The public debt is expected to stand at SAR 937 billion, or 33% of GDP by the end of 2021.
