Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, CEO of Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) said that the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BionNTech was approved after several studies were conducted to ensure its safety for use in the Kingdom.
Speaking to Al-Ekhbariya TV, the top executive added that the vaccine registration came as part of the tremendous efforts made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince to safeguard the health of both nationals and residents against the pandemic.
Meanwhile, SFDA continues to evaluate other vaccines that fulfill the efficacy and safety requirements, Aljadhey noted.
Earlier today, SFDA announced approving the registration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, after the US firm Pfizer had applied to register the new vaccine, to allow the Saudi health authorities to import and use the new medication, according to Argaam's available data.
