Alinma Tokio Marine Co. received a claim notice of Offshore Oil Engineering Co. regarding an accident when a package of underwater cables owned by Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) was damaged while a pipeline near it was being removed on June 25, 2019.
In a statement to Tadawul, the company said the package is insured under general commercial liability insurance policy, whereby the liability limits reach SAR 100 million. It also noted that the losses resulting from this accident are re-insured with reinsurers.
It noted that the claim value is SAR 37.5 million and the maximum liability of the company for this claim is SAR 112,500 only.
The company appointed Matthews Daniel, a loss estimator, to assess the resulting damages, and any developments related to this accident will be disclosed later.
The financial impact of this accident will reflect on Alinma Tokio’s financial results for fiscal year 2020.
