The General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) extended the waiver period of fines and financial penalties for taxpayers by another three months, until Dec. 31, 2020, the authority said in a statement.
The move, which will help taxpayers settle their Zakat and tax dues, is part of the Kingdom’s initiatives to stimulate economy and support the private sector to face the economic fallout from coronavirus outbreak.
Taxpayers who appealed against GAZT decisions before Sept. 30, 2020, and their claims are still pending the decision by the competent authorities, can benefit from the initiative, provided that taxpayers pay the tax principal sum or they can pay in installments during the initiative period, the statement said.
The initiative will not include fines imposed on taxpayers due to tax evasion.
Last July, King Salman issued directives on extending a number of government initiatives to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus, Argaam reported.
