Saudi Arabia issues 108,000 Umrah permits in first week of Eatmarna app launch

Official statistics issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah revealed that 108,000 permits have been issued to perform Umrah, in the first week of  Eatmarna application launch until Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020

 

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the number of permits issued to citizens reached 42,873, while permits issued to residents reached 65,128.

 

Moreover, the total number of registered persons in the first week of the launch reached about 309,700 citizens and residents, of whom nearly 224,900 registered basic and approximately 84,800 companions.

 

The ages of 51 - 60 years accounted for the lowest percentage of Umrah performers, reaching 8% of total registered pilgrims, followed by the ages of 41- 50 years with 14%, the ages of 20-30 years with 17%, and the age group 31 - 40 years with 26%. Meanwhile, the highest percentage of 35% was represented the pilgrims aged over 60%.

 

According to data compiled by Argaam, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Muhammad Saleh Benten recently stated that the reservation for the first ten days for pilgrims had been complete, with 16,000 pilgrims registered. 

 

Saudi Arabia announced four phases to resume Umrah, amid compliance with the required preventive health procedures.

 

Under the first phase, citizens and residents inside the Kingdom will be allowed to perform Umrah per day in the Grand Mosque as of Sunday, Oct. 4, at a 30% capacity (6,000 pilgrims per day).
