Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a decision to transfer the oversight of some government agencies from the Ministry of Commerce to other authorities, in coordination with the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA), and restructure these agencies.
The decision included the Saudi Council of Engineers, the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers, the Saudi Contractors Authority, the Saudi Society of Internal Auditors, in addition to the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the Estate Contributions Committee (Tasfiah).
The Minister of Commerce was the chairperson of those agencies. Under the new decision, a new chairperson will be appointed for these agencies, in coordination with CEDA.
The Saudi Cabinet has recently approved that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs will oversee the Saudi Council of Engineers, instead of the Ministry of Commerce. The Minister of Municipal Affairs will also chair its board of directors, due to common objectives and programs between the two entities.
