Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) commenced work on the first phase of the SAR 75 billion ($20 billion) “Diriyah Gate” mega project, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
One of the first areas to benefit from the transformation is the existing Bujairi district, which will experience a major upgrade in infrastructure that will enhance the quality of life for the community.
It will also be home to Riyadh’s new premium dining hub, offering uninterrupted views of At-Turaif, Diriyah Art Oasis, and a 142-key Samhan Heritage Hotel.
As part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the 7 square kilometers of Diriyah is set to be transformed into one of the Kingdom’s most prominent tourism destinations, which will have more than 20 hotels, a diverse collection of museums, a retail center, as well as over 100 restaurants.
The project will be home to a population of 100,000 and will attract 25 million visitors annually.
In addition, the initial activity on the ground includes the commencement of complex below-ground infrastructure projects that will result in 3 kilometers of tunnels and 10,500 car parking spaces, using 1.2 million cubic meters of concrete. The first stage of development work will cover 1.32 million square meters.
