STC bids for 2 telecom licenses in Ethiopia

Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) and UAE's Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) - among others - have bid for 2 telecom licenses in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Communications Authority said in a statement.

 

Other bidders include a consortium of Vodafone, Vodacom, and Safaricom, Axian, MTN, Orange, Telkom SA, Liquid Telecom, Snail Mobile, Kandu Global Telecommunications and Electromecha International Projects.

 

Issuing new licenses came within Ethiopia’s commitment to reform the telecommunications sector and boost the digitalized communications, the statement added.
