Prices of 57 goods and services in Saudi Arabia decreased year-on-year (YoY) in Feb. 2020, while prices of 102 others out of 166 commodities rose, official data issued by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
The classification of commodities was revised by GASTAT in June 2019 to include food and beverages, tobacco, clothes, construction materials, detergents, healthcare, maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation, fodder, hotels and apartments, and personal commodities and services.
The prices of Indian cardamom jumped the most by 90% YoY in Feb. 2020 to stand at SAR 221.25 from SAR 116.68, followed by the US cardamom with 75% to reach SAR 191.69 from SAR 109.33.
Local medium potatoes saw the biggest drop at 15% YoY to SAR 3.05 from SAR 3.59, followed by Turkish plum with 13% to reach SAR 12.09 from SAR 13.85.
