Saudi ministry issues decree to localize 9 activities in wholesale, retail outlets

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, issued a ministerial decree to localize wholesale and retail outlets by 70% in 9 economic activities as of Aug. 20, 2020.

 

The activities include selling tea and coffee, water and drinks, vegetables and dates, books, toys, dairy products, grains and seeds, it said in a statement on Thursday.

 

Details of the activities and exceptions to the new decree will be available on its website.

 

The ministry further noted that the move aims at raising the level of citizen participation in the labour market, in addition to creating more job vacancies across the Kingdom, adding all necessary measures will be taken to ensure that enterprises comply with this decision.
