The general counsel of US-based CTS Corporation, Luis Machado, said that the similarity between his company’s logo and the Saudi Telecom Co.’s (STC) logo is “crystal clear and confusing”.

He added, in a phone interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, that this logo copycat was highlighted by several media outlets and across social platforms.

CTS has initiated friendly talks with STC regarding the dispute but the latter denounced the similarity between the 2 logos, citing several excuses including allocating a high budget for promoting its trademark, he noted.

“CTS also spent a lot of money on its trademark,” Machado stressed.

He further explained that this issue has caused great damage to his company, leading it to file a lawsuit against STC in Saudi Arabia, expressing his belief in the justice of the Saudi judiciary.

CTS trademark is of high value, and if STC is willing to retain its logo, it has to pay for it,” he said.

STC has recently denied CTS’ logo copycat claims, denouncing what it so-called blackmail attempts. It also confirmed that its trademark is officially registered in several countries.
