Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has awarded Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF, Russia’s sovereign fund), the King Abdulaziz Second-Class Order of Merit -- the highest award of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“Kirill Dmitriev received the highest award of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in recognition of his contribution to strengthening cooperation between the Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia,” RDIF said in a statement on Saturday.

Kirill Dmitriev is the first Russian citizen to be honoured with this award after the Russian President Vladimir Putin, who received the King Abdulaziz Highest Order of Merit during his visit to Saudi Arabia in 2007, RDIF statement added.

The ceremony took place on the eve of the visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
