Global hospitality group Accor has 37 hotels with nearly 11,000 rooms under construction in Saudi Arabia.

Of the new hotels, the company plans to open 10 hotels in Jeddah, nine in Riyadh and eight in Makkah, it said in a statement on Sunday. However, no timeline of the openings were given.

Two new properties - Movenpick Al Tahlia Jeddah and Fairmont Riyadh – were opened this year. It currently operates 36 properties comprising 13,782 keys.

Accor, which has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Red Sea Development Company, is also in active discussions with the Public Investment Fund and key stakeholders in other mega developments including Amaala, Qiddiya and King Abdullah Financial District.

The company soon expects to enter negotiations with Diriyah Gate, the statement noted.

On Friday, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage and the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) signed tourism-related agreements worth about SAR 100 billion with several domestic and international firms.
