Saudi Binladin Group’s (SBG) board of directors on Sept. 3 held an on-site meeting at the Grand Mosque in Makkah to discuss preparations for completing the expansion plan.
The meeting was held following the directives issued by King Salman and Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman to proceed with the completion of the Grand Mosque Expansion projects, SBG said in a statement.
The board and the project team discussed the work plan as well as the remaining phases of construction.
Going forward, the construction conglomerate will focus on completing the expansions of the circumambulation area (Mataf), Masjid al-Haram and the first ring road.
SBG’s board requested the project team to fast track construction activities and provide all materials required to finalize the project on time. It also asked all workers to abide by workplace safety rules.
SBG board members, who were received by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, General President for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, conducted a field visit to evaluate the projects progress.
