King Salman orders formation of anti-corruption supervisory committee

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has ordered the formation of a supervisory committee for combating corruption, to be headed by chairman of National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha).

The new committee will be formed with the membership of the Control and Investigation Bureau’s head and director general of Administrative Intelligence.

The committee will provide all the means and mechanisms necessary for ensuring integrity, eradicating financial and administrative corruption, and following up on related issues.

The move is aimed to ensure fast settlement of corruption cases and prompt submission of reports to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

“The directive underlines the state’s commitment to combating all forms of corruption and the royal aim to enhance the performance and effectiveness of the supervisory bodies, so as to achieve the highest levels of integrity protection and corruption combating,” said Mazen Al-Khamous, chairman of Nazaha.

The Saudi government is keen to stamp out corruption and protect public finances, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 that deems transparency, integrity and countering graft as its main pillars, Al-Khamous added.

Last week, King Salman appointed Al-Kahmous as chairman of Nazaha at the rank of minister, Argaam reported.
