Demand for cement in Saudi Arabia has increased amidst a growth in projects, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported, citing Ahmed bin Abduh Zugail, vice-chairman of the National Cement Commission.
This, in turn, is expected to boost sales volumes by 3-5 percent, Zugail said.
“Local projects will see great momentum in the period following the Hajj season, as several contracts were signed, which will lift domestic demand,” he added.
Zugail also said he expects the cement sector to offset an 8 percent year-on-year deficit it has seen since the beginning of the year.
Producers located near mega projects such as Qiddiya and NEOM will benefit the most, he noted.
