Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) expects further localization of the power industry over the next few years, following the launch of its Bena program to build and employ national abilities earlier this year.
Bena certificate was approved by SEC to enhance local content, manufacturers and national firms, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
“Getting a certificate from Bena will enhance competition among potential winners of SEC projects,” the report said.
Meanwhile, the state-owned utility added that it has an integrated industrial base that could achieve self-sufficiency in the electricity and equipment industry across the Kingdom, such as low and medium-voltage cables, towers, and low-voltage transformers.
SEC launched its local content development strategy Bena last February, Argaam reported.
The program includes three initiatives to boost domestic industry.
