Saudi Arabia's Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has appointed BNP Paribas SA to advise on the privatization of its desalination assets.

BNP Paribas will study available options for partnership with the private sector, said Abdul Rahman Al-Fadly, Minister of Environment and Water and Agriculture and Chairman of SWCC.

SWCC is planning to spin off its water transmission assets and convert them to operate under a commercial company. It is also considering converting various plants to commercial firms under public-private partnerships, Al-Fadly added.

Saudi Arabia in 2008 approved the privatization of the water production unit of SWCC, Argaam earlier reported.
