Saudi Arabia launches seven photovoltaic projects

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources has unveiled seven photovoltaic projects during the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) launch ceremony yesterday.

These projects represent the second phase of the Kingdom’s renewable energy scheme.  

The total projects capacity reaches 1.51 megawatts, which will generate the energy needed by 226,500 families, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The projects include Al-Qurayat Project (200 MW), Madinah Project (50 MW), Rafha Project (45 MW), Al Faisaliah Project (600 MW), Rabigh Project (300 MW), Jeddah Project (300 MW) and Mahd adh Dhahab (20 MW).

Investments in the projects expected to reach SAR 1.51 billion, generating over 4,500 building, operating and maintenance jobs.

The Kingdom aims to be a leading renewable energy hub within the next ten years with a generating capacity of more than 200 GW, extending across the entire value chain, from local manufacturing to project development locally and internationally.
