Saudi Crown Prince chairs first meeting to restructure intelligence agency

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday chaired the first meeting to restructure the Kingdom’s intelligence agency, the state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

In the meeting, Prince Mohammed discussed the reform plan and an assessment of the status quo, in light of the best practices to be followed on the below elements:

- The organizational structure of the intelligence agency presidency,

- The applicable legal frameworks,

- The policies, measures and governance,

- The qualification mechanisms.

The committee has made the necessary recommendations, vowing to continue its meetings so as to finalize the target restructuring, the report added.

The new committee includes members such as Adel Al Jubeir, Saudi Foreign Minister and former Ambassador to US; Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior; Mousaed AlAiban, Minister of State; Khalid AlHumaidan, President of General Intelligence; and Abdulaziz AlHowairini, President of the State Security.

On Oct. 20, King Salman ordered the formation of ministerial committee headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to restructure the Kingdom’s General Intelligence, Argaam earlier reported.
