King Salman approves setting up logistics zone in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia's King Salman has issued a royal decree approving the regulations of a logistics zone in Riyadh, which were issued on the official gazette Umm Al-Qura.

The Kingdom aims to attract investments by establishing a special logistics zone on the land of King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, to carry out the following activities:

1) Assembly of parts of various customs items to create a final product.

2) Simple manufacturing processes that doesn’t lead to a change in the customs item, including testing, assembling, dismantling and installation.

3) Imports of all types of goods, including those used in simple manufacturing processes, maintenance, repair and development, within the zone.

After obtaining regulatory approvals, the logistics zone can run the following activities:

1) Maintenance, repair, alteration, development, assembly and storage of goods.

2) Sorting, packaging, trade, distribution and usage of goods.

3) Imports, exports and re-exporting.

4) Value-adding, logistics and after sales services.

5) Recycling of waste, including electronic waste.​

Based on the recommendation of related authorities, special logistics zones can be established at other airports with the same regulations, after the approval of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs.

The existing enterprises in the zone are not subject to any financial constraints regarding borrowing, restoring capital, revenue and profit transfers, paying commissions or any similar payments.
