London-headquartered PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the world’s biggest consultancy and accountancy firms, has tendered for a major contract to help modernize and streamline the Saudi military, the Guardian reported on Tuesday.

The project will be part of “a wholesale transformation of the Kingdom’s defense ministry, designed to better equip and support its frontline forces,” the newspaper reported.

PwC did not provide further details about the negotiations, but said there was an ongoing tender process with several participants bidding for the contract.

While the value of the potential deal was not disclosed, it “could be worth millions to the company,” it was reported.

PwC already has operations in Saudi Arabia, but it is the company’s UK business that is seeking to land the Saudi defense contract.

The consultancy – one of the world’s Big Four auditors, alongside EY, Deloitte, and KPMG – has reportedly been asking consultants and specialists in London if they would be keen on moving to Riyadh to start work, as it is “currently finalizing the deal.”

If PwC wins the contract, it will likely be tasked with transforming several support areas within the defense ministry.

The project’s first phase is likely to focus on reshaping recruitment, resourcing, performance management and strategic workforce planning, and how to manage and communicate change.
