Saudi Arabia, UK ink MoU for 48 Typhoon jets

Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of intent with the UK government to purchase 48 Typhoon fighter jets, a joint statement from both governments showed.

No further details were provided about the value of the deal, which was closed during a three-day official visit by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to London.

The jets, made by British company BAE Systems, are part of a multibillion-pound deal which has been under discussion for many years.

In 2017, BAE delivered the last of 72 planes ordered by Saudi Arabia in an earlier deal.

Both countries had set a £65 billion trade and investment target for the coming years.

Saudi Arabia and the UK have signed 18 business deals at the Saudi-UK CEO Forum, topped by three educational, training and leadership agreements concluded by Saudi Aramco, Argaam reported.

Saudi Arabia's General Investment Authority (SAGIA) also granted 10 licenses to British companies to conduct business in the kingdom.
