Saudi Electricity awards transmission line contract to India’s L&T

28/12/2017 Argaam

Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) has awarded the contract for building a 380kV double circuit overhead transmission line to L&T Construction, a subsidiary of India's Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

In a statement issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday, L&T said the transmission line - one of the longest lines in the Kingdom with a route length of more than 400 km - will be built between Qassim 2 and Madinah East Bulk Supply Point substations.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

In November, Saudi Electricity reported a net profit of SAR 12.4 billion in the first nine months of 2017, a 95 percent year-on-year surge, mainly due to a non-recurring write-off of municipality fees under a royal decree issued earlier this year and improved operating efficiency.
