Saudi Arabia and USA have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation and research in the field of clean fossil fuels and carbon management, state news agency SPA reported on Monday.

The MoU was signed during a meeting held in Riyadh between Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Arabia’s minister of energy, industry and mineral resources, and US energy secretary Rick Perry.

The agreement underscores the Kingdom’s drive to promote clean energy technologies, in line with the goals of Vision 2030, said Al-Falih.

The MoU will cover various technical fields including supercritical carbon dioxide cycles for power generation, carbon capture, utilization and storage, in addition to other aspects related to clean fossil fuel and carbon management.

The deal will also enhance technology transfer through exchange programs for experts, scientists and engineers, as well as joint seminars and workshops, Al-Falih said.
