The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) has signed the first two contracts worth SAR 23 million for managing and operating Jazan City for Basic and Manufacturing Industries, the commission said in a statement on Tuesday.

The first contract, worth SAR 21 million, was signed with AECOM Arabia Ltd. to conduct the planning studies for the city, while the other SAR 2 million deal was signed with Initial Saudi Arabia Ltd. to cover operations and maintenance work.

RCJY said the team assigned to manage the city is currently conducting meetings with companies such as Saudi Aramco and with the Economic Cities Authority as part of the handover process.

On Sept. 17, a royal decree changed the name of Jazan Economic City to Jazan City for Basic & Manufacturing Industries, to be managed and operated by RCJY, Argaam reported.

The city, built on an area of 102 million square meters, will comprise plants for heavy industries, petrochemicals, energy, as well as mining and manufacturing industries, and agriculture investments.
