More than 11 million expatriates work in Saudi Arabia’s private sector, accompanied by 2.2 million dependents and family members, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said citing National Information Center data.

Around 1.7 million foreign dependents are between the ages of 20 and 64 years, which is the same age group of 99 percent of the total expatriate workers in the Kingdom.

Starting July 1, Saudi Arabia has imposed a monthly fee of SAR 100 per expatriate dependent. This will increase gradually by SAR 100 every year until 2020, amounting to SAR 400 per dependent per month in 2020.

The total expatriate fees expected to be collected in from 2017 till 2020 amount to SAR 26.7 billion.
