Saudi Arabia is in talks with Nissan Motor Co. and Hyundai Motor Co. to set up car manufacturing and assembly plants in the Kingdom, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported on Monday, citing energy minister Khalid Al-Falih.

 

The energy ministry is cooperating with the Council of Economic and Development Affairs to push for the development of an automotive industry in the Kingdom.

 

Al-Falih added that an automobile city in Jizan would attract global car manufacturers and serve as a hub for related services, including supply chains, training, and car testing.

 

Representatives of the National Industrial Clusters Development Program are working with Japanese carmaker Toyota to study the economic feasibility of auto investments in the Kingdom.
