Saudi Arabia aims to double natural gas supplies, says Al-Falih

Saudi Arabia is planning to double natural gas supplies and increase its usage to 70 percent in public infrastructure facilities over the next decade, Al-Eqtisadiah daily reported on Tuesday, citing energy minister, Khalid Al-Falih.

The Kingdom’s energy strategy will include conducting joint research with car manufacturers to develop high-quality fuel and clean energy for the future.

The strategy is also aimed at enhancing carbon management practices, Al-Falih added on the eighth international forum on energy for sustainable development, held in Kazakhstan.

The minister had earlier stated that Saudi Arabia wants 10 percent of its electricity to come from renewable sources within six years as part of a transformation in its power sector.

Meanwhile, Al-Falih confirmed that the Kingdom will remain a key player in this sector and will also continue its investments in the hydrocarbon sector.
