Saudi Arabia’s finance ministry is set to award compensation to owners whose properties were expropriated due to the Masjid Al-Nabawi expansion project in Madina, state news agency SPA reported.

 

The ministry requested owners of properties in the first phase to finalize regulatory procedures to receive compensation.

 

Owners of properties in phases two and three have already received around 80 percent of their compensations, it was reported.

 

They will have the option of restoring their properties and refunding the received payments within six months from finalizing the regulatory approvals, or proceeding to receive the remaining disbursement.

 

Owners of properties not included in the three phases, in addition to properties located north of King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR), are free to restore them.

 

The Masjid Al-Nabawi expansion project aims to increase the capacity of the mosque to 1.6 million worshipers, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
