Saudi International Petrochemical Company (SIPCHEM) plans to shut down in the last quarter of this year a Jubail-based methanol plant for a four-week maintenance.

The financial impact of the closure hasn’t been detailed, but the company has enough stockpiles to cushion disruption of production at the plant, which has an annual capacity of 967,000 tons, it said.

SIPCHEM’s Operations President Abdullah al-Saadoon has told analysts that the company will change and upgrade major machineries in the factory.
