RCJY to conduct field visits to Jazan Economic City ahead of launch

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) will soon conduct field visits to Jazan Economic City (JEC) to evaluate progress and meet with representatives from Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) and other partner companies.

RCJY chairman Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Thunyan said the visit will be made before the official launch of operations in JEC, Saudi state news agency SPA reported.

Bin Thunyan had carried out a preliminary assessments of some projects carried out by Saudi Aramco.

In 2013, the state-owned oil giant was tasked with developing infrastructure for the first phase of the city, which includes the Jazan refinery and terminal, the commercial seaport, a power plant, a water desalination plant, roads and water and sanitary drainage systems.

Last month, Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree mandating the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) to manage and operate JEC, according to a SPA report.

JEC, which is located 60 kilometers northwest of Jizan City, is the fourth industrial city to be managed by the commission.
