Aramco’s Jazan projects said to create ‘thousands’ of local jobs

Saudi Aramco’s projects in the port city of Jazan will create thousands of jobs and training opportunities for the kingdom’s nationals, said Amin Nasser, the company’s acting chief executive.

He spoke to reporters during a visit to the province, in which he inspected Aramco’s ongoing projects.

Aramco’s Jazan refinery is expected to produce 400,000 barrels a day after it launches operations in late 2016, according to a report published by Argaam. The facility will produce gasoline and ultra-low-sulfur diesel.

The refinery is the centerpiece of the $20 billion Jazan Economic City, which aims to revive the economy and reduce the unemployment rate in one of the poorest regions of the kingdom.

Projects in the Economic City include the production of titanium, cast iron and high-purity silicon.
