Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia to adjust prices, says CEO

Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia will change its prices in Saudi Arabia by reducing costs for frequent users, said chief executive Karim Benkarin.

The company also plans to release five million charge cards to be available for prepaid customers across the kingdom, he was quoted as saying in Al Yaum newspaper.

Virgin Mobile is currently in a strategic partnership with Saudi Telecom Company (STC), in which the company gets to own a 10 percent stake in Virgin Mobile in exchange for it to use its networks and communication towers.

The communications and Information Technology Commission has agreed to grant a license to provide virtual mobile network operators (MVNO) for Virgin Mobile, with STC as its host service provider.

The licenses will be available to other mobile service providers including Jawraa and Mobily.

Zain, however, has not yet announced its host service provider for the new service.
