Ministry of Industry launches BCI’s new plant in Riyadh

Khalil Ibrahim bin Salamah, Deputy Minister for Industry Affairs, inaugurated the new Baalbaki Chemical Industries plant of Basic Chemical Industries Co. (BCI) in Riyadh Second Industrial City.

The plant spans a total area of 10,000 square meters. The fully automated facility, the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the region, boasts an initial production capacity of 40,000 tons annually in its first phase, increasing to 60,000 tons in the second phase by next year.

It focuses on producing raw materials used in various industries such as automotive, piping, air conditioning systems, household appliances, and insulation materials. It is committed to using non-toxic materials and advanced technologies that reduce energy consumption by up to 60%. These technologies promote sustainability and energy conservation, with key innovations including recycling PET materials into raw materials for insulation and repurposing tires to produce adhesives used in various industrial applications.

Bin Salamah highlighted the ministry's role in fostering industrial investments in the Kingdom through a range of initiatives and programs aimed at creating an attractive environment for investors, streamlining processes, and providing support.

He affirmed the ministry's dedication to diversifying the industrial base, enhancing local content, and localizing transformative and chemical industries, contributing to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and positioning the Kingdom as a leading industrial power. He also noted the significance of BCI Group’s move to inaugurate its latest production facility in Riyadh Second Industrial City.
