MEWA Minister witnesses several agreements in poultry sector with over SAR 4B investments

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) Abdulrahman Al Fadley witnessed the signing of a number of agreements in the local poultry sector with investments exceeding SAR 4 billion, according to a ministerial statement.

The agreements, signed on the sidelines of the 2024 Middle East Poultry Expo, represent a qualitative leap in boosting agricultural development and encouraging investment in the Saudi poultry sector, marking an opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance food security. They are also a key step towards income diversification in the Kingdom, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

In detail, Almarai Co. signed deals with several local and international entities, one of which was sealed with Food Purity Poultry Co. to supply slaughterhouse equipment and processing lines for meat and poultry. Two others were inked with Switzerland-based Bühler Co. to establish feed mills and another with the Belgian Petersime Co. to set up hatcheries. Almarai also sealed an agreement with Germany-based Big Dutchman Co. for shoring up feed equipment to serve the sector.

The deals also included signing an agreement between Saudi Radwa Food Co. Ltd. and Installation Systems Company for Trading and Contracting (ISCO) to expand the company’s activity and projects. Another deal was concluded between Atyab Poultry Co. and Tanmiah Food Co. for working on the safe disposal of broiler parts after the end of the five-year production period.

The minister also witnessed the signing of two other agreements between Balady Poultry Co. and BAADER Food Systems Denmark to establish an automated factory, with a production capacity of 25,000 birds per hour. Another one was sealed with China’s Famsun Group to build a feed factory with a capacity of 60 tons per hour.

Furthermore, the event saw the signing of two deals by Saudi Cavalo Contracting Co., the first was with Naqaa Co. Ltd. for supplying, designing and implementing a broiler project for eight farms and 48 barns in Al Sulail Governorate. The former inked another agreement with Netherlands-based VDL Agrotech for supplying equipment for 60 broiler pens.

The ceremony also encompassed signing several other agreements between Saudi poultry companies and other Saudi or international firms, including Jamesway Incubator Co., VanCOm Technology, Denmark-based Haarslev, Marel Poultry B.V., US-based Chore-Time, and Addoha Poultry, to cooperate in the poultry sector and exchange sector-related expertise.
