GACO says court issues final ruling against former board member

Al Gassim Investment Holding Co. (GACO) stated that the Court of Appeal issued a final verdict in favor of Fakieh Poultry Farms Co. against former board member, Abdullah Al-Mahous, according to a Tadawul statement.

GACO expects to receive SAR 1.84 million from Fakieh Poultry upon transfer of the title deed to it.

There are no substantial legal, regulatory, or operational risks that may arise from the lawsuit, the company said, noting that it has retained a third-party lawyer to provide legal consultations and represent it in the legal proceedings.

Previously, GACO authorized Al-Mahous to complete the procedures related to the issuance of title deeds for outstanding agricultural ministerial decisions, which are the remaining title deeds to complete the sale contract of the company's agricultural project in Al-Jouf region with Fakieh Poultry. GACO was to receive the outstanding dues of SAR 1.84 million in return for obtaining and registering the title deed.

However, Al-Mahous obtained and registered the title deed under his name and refused to transfer the property to Fakieh Poultry despite being authorized by the board of directors.

Fakieh Poultry filed a lawsuit against Al-Mahous seeking a court ruling that the land belongs to it. GACO joined the case by court order, confirming the validity of the lawsuit and that Fakieh Poultry is the owner of the disputed land.

On Nov. 2, 2023, a final verdict was issued indicating that Fakieh Poultry is the owner of the land and obligated the defendant to transfer the title deed to Fakieh Poultry.
